That beeing said, I wouldnt have anything against your idea beeing implemented(obviously, I do not retreat anyway). Or retreat, voiding the success reward and taking additional stress damage but keeping your heroes alive. Its YOUR choice: Keep pushing on with increasingly worse odds as supplies run out and damage and stress pile up? One of Darkest Dungeons strongest themes is, in my oppinion: Go Figure)Īs for your suggestion, I do not think there is an retreat exploit. I DO have the first Hero Death achievement. ( I can prove it, I do not have the first retreat achievement. There is an Abandon Quest option? Oh right, I just forgot, I have never used it so far. ![]() I guess it could be optional if players don't this update to be forced apon them if their in a tight spot in the game, but I like to see players try to complete a lond/hard dungeon with this changed put into place. The only way you can retreat from the dungeon is to have your party slowly make their way back to the entrance and hope that they don't either starve, get killed in battle or go insane from stress.ĭoes this make the game harder? Yes, but it makes more sense in what this game is trying to do. Players will have to be more cautious and how they should tackle a dungoen and if they really should continue if their team starts wear down. Not only would this eliminate the "retreat when ever your want" exploit, but also makes moving deeper into the Duegon more dreadful as you move further away from the entrance. ![]() The best way I can see Red Hook improving this is by making the abandon quest option ONLY available when your team is at the duegon's enterance. So basically I see this mechanic kind of exploitable since while you won't get the end goal reward, you can still escape with all the wealth you managed to obtain and likely make up for what you spend. I know that it has a stress penalty on your troops every time you use it, but every time my team starts to get weak, I'm usually able to get enough money to at least make up for the cost of my provisions if not gain more and use the money to stress heal my troops. Personally, having the "Abandon Quest" option alway available to use kind of ruins the dreadful atmosphere that this game is trying to give.
